Ram Rahim’s ex-guard ends life

Sirsa, October 11

Ram Singh (38), a former personal security guard of the convicted Dera Sacha Sauda chief Ram Rahim, allegedly committed suicide by consuming celphos tablet at his native Shakkar Mandori village in the district on Wednesday.

His services as head constable had been terminated from the Haryana Police.

SP Hamid Akhtar said Ram Singh was under depression for some time and seemed to have taken the extreme step due to depression. The body was handed over to the family after postmortem.

The police said the victim was staying on the Dera premises and used to visit his village almost daily. He was terminated from the services after his name figured among the security personnel who tried to free the Dera chief from the police security and help him abscond after the CBI court convicted him in the rape case in Panchkula. He got recruited in the police in 2001 and was later deployed with the Dera chief from January 2017 to August 2018 when his services were terminated. —TNS
