The police have claimed recovery of 90-kg poppy husk from three persons.

The accused have been identified as Gurinder Singh, alias Ginda, and Balwinder Singh, alias Binder, of Shahpur village, Mohali, and Mandeep Singh alias Mamu of Hirdapur village, Ropar.

A case under the NDPS Act has been registered.

SP(Investigation) Balwinder Singh Randhawa said a police team had set up a naka at the Pathreri Jattan T-point. On seeing the police, the trio tried to flee. After a chase, the police caught them and recovered 90-kg poppy husk.

Randhawa said the accused confessed that they used to bring poppy husk from Madhya Pradesh. — TNS
