Ludhiana: The Devki Devi Jain Memorial College for Women, Ludhiana, will organise the Panjab University zonal youth and heritage festival. Students from 11 colleges of Zone B, Ludhiana, will come on a common platform. A meeting regarding finalising the dates of the youth festival was held at the college. The meeting was presided over by Nirmal Singh Jaura, Director, Department of Youth Welfare, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Mukti Gill, Principal, Khalsa College for Women; Manju Bhashini, Principal, SDP College for Women and representatives of all other participating colleges attended the meeting. All members unanimously decided that the festival will be held from September 26 to 29.

UGC NET qualifiers felicitated

It was a proud moment for the Kamla Lohtia SD College, Ludhiana, as five faculty members from the post-graduate department of commerce and management (alumni of the college) and one MCom student qualified the UGC National Eligibility Test (NET). Manu Kapil, Deepak Kapoor, Maninder Singh, Mehak, Nidhi and Gourav K Mangar were felicitated by Dharampal Jain, president, College Managing Committee.

New session commences

The Khalsa College for Women, Sidhwan Khurd, began the new academic session 2018-19 on August 3 with Sukhmani Sahib Path followed by Kirtan and Anand Sahib Path. The blessings of the Almighty were taken for the success of students. On the occasion, officiating principal Gurinder Sandhu distributed ladoos among teachers and students.

GNGC, Model Town

The Guru Nanak Girls College, Model Town, Ludhiana, organised Akhand Path to seek blessings of the Almighty. The entire campus was decorated with flowers for the pious occasion. The celebrations started with Akhand Path followed by Kirtan. Principal Dr Charanjit Mahal prayed for the success of students in the new session. She exhorted the students to follow the teachings of great spiritual leaders.

GNIMT students stand out

Students of the Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology (GNIMT), Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, proved their mettle in BBA second semester exams conducted by the The IK Gujral Punjab Technical University. Gurleen Kaur stood first by obtaining 9.07 Semester Grade Point Average (SGPA). Simrandeep Singh ranked second by scoring 8.14 (SGPA) and Ashwani Kumar stood third with 7.96 SGPA.

NCC cadets win 37 medals

Twenty four NCC cadets of the Devki Devi Jain Memorial College, Kidwai Nagar, Ludhiana, participated in 19 Punjab Battalion NCC Combined Annual Training Camp-37 held at the NCC Academy, Malout, under the supervision of Colonel Vijay Deep Singh and Colonel YS Reddu. Cadets brought laurels by winning 37 medals in different activities, including drill, tug of war, weapon test, cross country etc. Cadets also showcased their hidden talent by participating in cultural activities.— TNS
