Abohar, July 24

Youths of Seed Farm Colony have formed Sher-e-Punjab Youth Club to motivate residents to shun drugs and liquor.

The police have raided the colony many times and at least one member of almost every family had faced trial in courts here under the Excise Act or the NDPS Act. The situation was so grim that a special police post was set up there.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Poonam Singh on Tuesday visited the colony and made arrangements to treat 15 youths at a de-addiction centre in the Sub-Divisional Civil Hospital. She told Senior Medical Officer Amita Chaudhary to provide all possible help at the centre. When informed that the centre did not get supply of some specific medicines that were considered safe and effective, the SDM said it would be arranged by the administration. — OC
