The state government will ensure that Kamla Nehru Mother and Child Hospital is developed as a premier health institute for mother and child healthcare.
This was stated by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur after inaugurating a five-storey and a basement, Maternity and Child Health Block (MCH), at Kamla Nehru Hospital today.
The block has come up at a cost of Rs 17.5 crore.
“The institute will be equipped with latest equipment and other basic infrastructure,” he said.
Equipment worth Rs 3.25 crore would be installed in the operation theatre, labour room and newborn nursery, the Chief Minister added. He said the medical oxygen pipeline system would also be installed in the new wing.
“The new building has facilities such as labour room, operation theatre, neonatal care unit, laboratory, antenatal and special wards,” he stated.
With the new block, 100 more beds would be added to the hospital. Later, the Chief Minister distributed baby health kits. — TNS
