Yuvraj Walmiki scored a hat-trick as Mumbai XI recovered from a two goal deficit to stun Punjab & Sind Bank 3-2 in the ongoing 55th Nehru Senior Hockey Tournament at the Sector 42 Sports Complex, here, on Tuesday.

Prahdeep Singh struck in the fifth minute to give bankers an early lead and Ashish Pal Singh doubled their tally even before Mumbai XI could recover from the opening blow.

With the side trailing 2-0 in the 11th minute, Walmiki took it upon himself to bring his team back into the match. The striker reduced the deficit in the 13th minute and struck again 12 minutes later to restore the parity for Mumbai XI.

Walmiki looked in great touch and kept on earning penalty corners for Mumbai XI, but the side failed to convert their opportunities until the striker came up with a brilliant field goal to put them into the lead in the 38th minute

Mumbai defenders then guarded their fort well and denied bankers any opportunity to come back into the match.

AI beat CAG XI 4-2

In the second match, Joga Singh scored a brace to help Air India (AI) register a 4-2 win over CAG XI.

Ehtesham Khan put CAG XI ahead in the 18th minute and Chandan Singh converted a penalty stroke a few minutes later to make it 2-0 for the side.

However, things started to turn for AI after they pushed their half-back Joga to add strength to their attack. The move worked and Joga netted the first goal for the side in the 31st minute.

Ten minutes later, Abharan Sudev scored a field goal to help Air India draw level.

Joga sounded the wooden plank in the 58th minute to put them into the lead, while

Khushman Singh successfully converted a penalty corner in 68th minute to seal a 4-2 win for AI.
