Head Constable Nasir Ahmed who attained martyrdom in Thursday’s terror attack in Pulwama will be laid to rest at his native place in Rajouri district on Saturday.

Deputy Commissioner MA Asad, SSP Yougal Manhas and other senior officers on Friday visited the house of Nasir Ahmed in Dodassan Bala village in Thanamandi tehsil of Rajouri district

“As the mortal remains of Nasir Ahmed have not reached here yet, so it was decided to perform his last rites on Saturday,” said a senior police officer.

“The body of the martyr will be flown to Pathankot from New Delhi late Friday evening and will then be sent to Rajouri via road,” said Nitu Bhatacharya, DIG, CRPF.

Sheraj-ud-Din, martyr’s brother, said the government must take care of the two children of his late brother as the family had no other source of income.

“When I was in Class VII, our parents died. After that I brought up my younger brother Nasir. He was a true Indian and wanted to join security forces to serve the country,” Sheraj added.

He recalled that just five days before this ghastly attack, Nasir came to meet his family and on Thursday, he was made the commander by the senior officers to lead the CRPF convoy from Jammu to Kashmir.

Nasir Ahmed is survived by his wife Shazia Kouser and two children Kasif and Phalak. The family reached Dodassan Bala village from Jammu on Friday evening.
