Pakistan Rangers on Wednesday night again violated ceasefire by resorting to firing along the international border (IB) in the Manyari area of Hiranagar sector of Kathua district, officials said.
The Pakistan Rangers resorted to small and heavy arms fire on the border outpost (BoP), Manyari in Hiranagar sector, around 9 pm which will continue till Thursday morning around 5 pm. The BSF troops, guarding the borderline, retaliated, the officials said.
One cattle shed of Yash Pal of Manyari village was gutted due to firing. An animal also sustained injuries due to the firing. A family of Manyari village also had a narrow escape as they abandoned home in the night due to heavy firing. A bullet hit their door and damaged household goods.
“Due to heavy firing, the children got frightened and I took them to my relatives’ home. In the morning, when we returned I saw the bullets pierced through the main door and household goods caught fire. About Rs 35,000 were missing from there,” said Sapna Devi of Manyari village.
Meanwhile, Raghav Langer, Deputy Commissioner, Kathua, spent last night in Manyari village and interacted with border residents and boost their morale. He also visited the house of Sapna Devi and assured her all help from the administration.
The DC also visited border villages such as Bobiya, Londi, Chandra Chack, Maniyari and Pansar to get first-hand information from ground zero after unprovoked firing and ceasefire violations from other side of the border.
Pak intruder held
Jammu: The Border Security Forces (BSF) on Thursday apprehended a suspected Pakistan intruder in Akhnoor sector along the international border (IB) in Jammu. He was apprehended from Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor sector during the wee hours of Thursday when he was crossing over to this side of the international border.
