A saloon owner was allegedly found murdered near a railway track in Shiv Nagar, Sodal, here this afternoon. The Government Railway Police (GRP) are investigating the case.
The deceased has been identified as Arun Bassi (38), alias Jogi, a resident of Basti Peer Daad and owner of a salon and a generator business on the Mandi road.
Family members of the victim alleged in their complaint to the police that he had been killed by his friends and the call list of his friends should be traced.
They said: “He left the house at 3 pm after having his lunch. In the evening, we got a call that his body has been found near railway tracks in Sodal. He has been killed by his friends due to an old enmity,” the family alleged, adding that his body bore no injuries other than bruises on his neck.
“The whole incident is being framed as a case of suicide but it’s not a suicide. It’s a well-planned murder,” alleged the family members and relatives of the deceased.
However, the body was first spotted by some local residents in Shiv Nagar, who with the help of the driving licence found in the wallet of the victim, informed his family and the police.
Meanwhile, GRP officials dealing with the case did not disclose any concrete information in this regard.
They said: “We got information about a body lying near a railway track in the evening after which we reached the spot. We are investigating the matter and a case will be registered as per the evidence and family members’ statements in the morning.”
The body bore neck injuries and has been sent for a postmortem examination, the officials added.
