Karnal, January 19

Two days after the murder of Vikas, alias Pintu, a resident of Dadupur Khurd, his family members and relatives on Saturday agreed for the postmortem examination and took possession of the body, which was lying in a private hospital.

The family members were staging a dharna on the premises of the private hospital. They were adamant on not lifting the body till the arrest of the accused.

On Saturday, Gharaunda MLA Harvinder Kalyan and Nilokheri MLA Bhagwan Das Kabirpanti persuaded the family members for a meeting with the authorities and police officials at the PWD rest house.

In a meeting, in which the MLAs and SP Surinder Singh Bhoria were present, the family was pacified and asked to get the postmortem examination of the body conducted.

“We have assured the family members that the accused will be arrested and the justice will be delivered. They have lifted the body for postmortem examination and last rites,” said the Gharaunda MLA. The victim was later cremated.

Bhoria said they had rounded up several suspects and were questioning them. “Four teams led by three DSPs are out to nab the accused,” he added.

The police registered a case against Krishan of Dadupur, Jabra of Ladwa, Sunny of Ladwa and four others. Besides, a case was registered against more than 200 unidentified persons for blocking National Highway-44.
