Ambala, December 17
The three-day Gita Jayanti Mahotsava was inaugurated by Ambala MP Ratan Lal Kataria at Rambagh Ground in Ambala City on Sunday.
The MP also inaugurated an exhibition where different government departments and agencies have set up around 30 stalls to showcase their products and services being provided by them.
The MP was accompanied by Ambala City MLA Aseem Goel, Deputy Commissioner Sharandeep Kaur and several other officials. Around 2,000 persons, including schoolchildren, turned up at the exhibition.
Speaking on the occasion, the MP said: “Teachings of the Gita are for everyone and it has answers for all problems. It is a matter of pride for people of Haryana that the Gita was delivered in Kurukshetra. The present BJP government has taken steps to take the festival to the international level so that people across the world could celebrate it. Efforts are being made to develop Kurukshetra in terms of tourism and spirituality. A corridor is being constructed from Pehowa to Bilaspur at a cost of Rs 126 crore for this purpose.”
Deputy Commissioner Sharandeep Kaur said several cultural events would be organised during the programme.
