A month-long theatre festival will begin at Virsa Vihar in March, announced Shiromani playwright and president of Virsa Vihar Society Kewal Dhaliwal here on Thursday. The festival will be dedicated to the eminent theatre personalities from Amritsar and will be a part of the 550th Prakash Parv of Guru Nanak Dev. A meeting was held in this regard where all the major theater groups from Amritsar and adjoining areas participated, headed by Kewal Dhaliwal and general secretary of Virsa Vihar Society Ramesh Yadav.

“Theater artistes in the meeting unanimously agreed to prepare and play the part in this festival with great enthusiasm. The festival, which will be held in March, will be an opportunity to celebrate the rangmanch and all its glorious colours,” said Kewal Dhaliwal. He said the festival would have a unique connection with all artistes participating over the time.

Dhaliwal informed that theatre groups from Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Batala, Gurdaspur and Pathankot districts, would be a part of month-long festivities. He said the educational, literary, cultural and social institutions would be made part of the process so as to reach out to more audience. “The plays will be held every day at Virsa Vihar and will aim to promote theatre and its cause. It will also give visibility to the fresh theatre talent from region.”
