Shimla, November 14
Himachal’s success story of curbing monkey menace by preventing 4.6 lakh new births through mass sterilisation has travelled across the country and states facing similar problems are sharing their experiences now.
A team, led by Additional Chief Secretary (Forests), Karnataka, Sandeep Dave, visited Himachal to study the strategies to combat monkey problem. It was presented the chronological brief of the work done by the government.
Principal Chief Conservator, Forests (Wildlife), Dr Savita highlighted the achievement of the programme, emphasising the fact that Himachal was the only state, where such a large exercise had been undertaken and almost 4.6 lakh new births were prevented.
