Mobile snatched from J&K resident

A Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) resident, Mohammad Afzal, was robbed of his mobile by three youths near the heavily crowded interstate bus terminus while he was waiting for an auto-rickshaw by the roadside. Afzal was accompanied by his 10-year-old daughter and a relative.

He raised the alarm following which bystanders nabbed two of them, identified as Suman alias Tony of Hussainpura Chowk and Gagandeep Singh of Islamabad. Their third accomplice, Vicky Ferozepuria of Maqboolpura area, managed to slip away.

The police have registered a case under Section 379-B and 34 of the Indian Penal Code while raids were on to arrest Vicky, said Satnam Singh, in charge of the bus stand police post.

Afzal told the police that at around 7.30 pm, he reached the bus stand and was waiting for an auto-rickshaw to take him to a private eye hospital on Mall Road when the accused came and snatched his phone and tried to flee. He shouted for help and two of them were nabbed while their third accomplice fled with the mobile phone.
