New Delhi, February 13
The Election Commission is going to hold special camps in government schools across Delhi to restore the voters’ names, which had been deleted wrongfully, within a week.
The mega drive will be promoted through radio, the AAP is learnt to have been assured by the election authorities in this regard in a meeting today.
A delegation of the AAP today met Chief Electoral Officer Ranbir Singh to discuss the issue of deletion of voters being done to allegedly favour the BJP in the Lok Sabha election.
The AAP claimed that the election agency owing to the pressure from the Centre had to send the "motivated complaint" of the BJP to the police though no criminal offence is made out. The complaint was in reference to the random calls being made to city's electorate about their names missing from the electoral rolls.
AAP leaders, including Saurabh Bhardwaj, Atishi Marlena and Raghav Chadha alleged that the votes of a large number of people have been removed in an incorrect and illegitimate manner. — TNS
