New Delhi, February 11
A delegation of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) led by its president Sheila Dikshit today met Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Delhi, Ranbir Singh and got registered their protest against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP government for misleading voters.
The Congress delegation brought to the notice of the CEO that the AAP in the name of Arvind Kejriwal, had been contacting voters, whose names were already in the final voters’ list, through mobile phones and propagating that though their names had been struck down from the voters’ list, the AAP party was getting it restored, and as such they should vote for the party during elections, said Dikshit.
Addressing a press conference her today, Dikhsit slammed the government for making false promises to the people of Delhi that electricity would be provided to them at half the rate, in a bid to influence the voters. The AAP had employed the same cunning strategy before the Delhi Assembly elections four years ago, that “bijli” would be provided to the consumers at half the rate, but reneged on its promise after coming to power.
She said after completing four years in office, the Kejriwal government through advertisements in a section of newspapers had been claiming that “bijli at half rate to the Delhi consumers”, but the reality was that “bijli” (power) had now become more costly than ever before.
