Mishap-hit pedestrian succumbs to injuries

Zirakpur, February 5

A man in his mid-30s today succumbed to his injuries at the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Sector 32, Chandigarh, where he was undergoing treatment after he was allegedly hit by a car while crossing the road near here on February 3.

The police have booked the accused car driver, identified as Jasveer Singh, a resident of Chandigarh. However, he is yet to be arrested.

The police said the deceased, Mohammad Kadir, a resident of Bihar, had come to Zirakpur along with his elder brother Mohammad Alam on February 3. Kadir was crossing the road near Ramada Hotel when a car coming from the Chandigarh side reportedly hit him. The driver fled from the spot. 

Meanwhile, the victim was rushed to the GMCH where he died today.

Acting on a complaint by Alam, a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code was registered at the Zirakpur police station.
