Karnal, April 22
Thieves made an attempt to loot an ATM of Canara Bank in Kachwa village last night. Exposing the poor security system at ATMs, miscreants managed to uproot the unguarded ATM and cut it into two pieces, but failed to break it open.
There was around Rs1 lakh in the machine, which was safe, said bank officials.
The police registered a case against unidentified persons and started the investigation. The police are also checking the CCTV camera footage to track the miscreants.
The incident came to light at 6 am on Monday, when a passerby noticed the broken ATM and informed the village sarpanch, who later informed the police. — TNS
