Patiala, April 7

In the run-up to the parliamentary elections, a milk booth has been set up overnight on government land  allegedly with the patronage of the current dispensation. The site where the booth has come up is near a public park on Bhupendra Road.

Sources said local leaders reportedly extended tacit help in lieu of support in the coming elections. The district administration and the Municipal Corporation seem to have turned a blind eye to it as even after 24 hours of the matter being reported to them, no action has been taken.

Owners of authorised shops in front of the park alleged that the booth was set up in connivance with the authorities. Interestingly, the booth has already got an electricity connection.

Deputy Commissioner Kumar Amit said, “We will look into the matter after we check the documents tomorrow.” — TNS
