400 screened during health awareness programme

A public health awareness programme was conducted by Dayanand Medical College and Hospital at Maa Sharda Vidya Peeth. Medical facilities were provided to patients at their doorsteps sucha as blood pressure monitoring, blood sugar testing and ECG of 400 patients, including school students and their parents by a team of doctors from DMC and Hospital. All the services were provided to the patients free-of-cost. The prescribed medicines were also provided free by DMCH. All present were educated about precautions, good eating habits and things to be avoided to live a healthy life and that the early detection of disease is very helpful in proper and timely cure.

More than 150 delegates participate in CME

The state-level CME on pancreas updates was organised by the Punjab chapter of Indian Society of Gastroenterologist (ISG), here. The keynote speakers of the conference were Dr Ajay Kumar, elected President of ISG and Executive Director, Department of Gastroenterology, Fortis Escort Hospitals, New Delhi, Dr Ajit Sood President of Punjab Chapter and RS Chhina Dean Acadmic of DMC, Dr Surinder Rana and Dr. Adarsh Chaudhary. The eminent Gastroenterologists from different parts of Punjab and leading physicians and surgeons of Ludhiana and nearby areas attended this academic activity. More than 150 delegates participated in this event. Dr Balwinder Singh from Jallandhar, Dr. Sunil Arya from Partiala, Dr Harmeet Saluja from Deep Hospital and Dr Rajesh Bansal from Bathinda were the chairperson of the session.

Speaking on this occasion, Dr Ajay discussed about the medical management in acute pancreatitis. Dr RS Chhina enlightened on Presidential Changeover ceremony. Dr Surinder discussed about Endoscopic Management in acute Pancreatitis and Dr Adarsh Chaudhary told about the surgical management in acute Pancreatitis. Dr Nirmaljeet Singh Malhi, Head, Department of Gastroenterology, SPS Hospitals and the general secretary of society emphasised the need for early diagnosis, good compliance and lifelong commitment to therapy as the key aspects in controlling the disease.
