Ludhiana: The department of critical care, medicine, SPS Hospitals, under the aegis of Ludhiana Society of Critical Care Medicine (LSCCM) organised a CME on Sepsis Update. Sepsis is a life-threatening infection and a leading cause of ICU admissions. The CME was organised to spread awareness and know the latest developments in the diagnosis and management of this serious issue. The faculty included highly acclaimed national experts from Chennai, Delhi and Mohali, Dr Ram E Raiagopalan. Dr Prakash Shastri, Dr Supradip Ghosh, Dr Amit Mandal, Dr Suneel Garg, Dr PL Gautam, Dr Bakshish Singh and Dr Gurpreet Singh delivered talks. The CME was attended by 150 delegates from all over Punjab. It emphasised on the choice of antibiotics for multidrug resistant pathogens, fluid management. fungal sepsis, latest controversies and developments in the field of sepsis.
Global recognition
City-based Dr Dwarkanath Kotnis Acupuncture Hospital and Education Centre has got global recognition, as it has been officially accepted as a member society by World Federation of Acupuncture and Moxibustion Societies (WFAS). Dr Dwarkanath Kotnis Acupuncture Hospital is ‘country’s first acupuncture institute’ established in 1975 by great freedom fighter Late Shri Gian Singh. This hospital is built in the memory of Dr Dwarkanath Kotnis (member of Indian Medical Mission to China 1938-42) who is reflected as a symbol of friendship between India and China. Since the past 44 years, the hospital is working as a charitable organisation and has treated a number of patients. — TNS
