A medical board of the GMSH, Sector 16, has denied the abortion request of a 15-year-old rape victim. The girl is now 25 weeks pregnant and the application had been moved in the court last week.

The court had formed a medical board to take a decision. According to sources, the report states that the termination of her pregnancy is not advisable now as it could pose a risk to her life.

The girl was allegedly raped multiple times over a period spanning a few months by a boy, who is a minor. After the rape survivor’s parents recorded their statements and she was medically examined, the juvenile was arrested and sent to a juvenile home.

According to the complaint, the parents of the minor girl alleged that the boy lived in their neighbourhood a few years ago and knew them. The girl said the accused’s mother was no more and when his father would go to work, the accused would take her to his house and rape her. This had been happening for a few months.

Her mother noticed that her menstrual cycle had stopped and when she questioned her, she said she was pregnant after having been raped by the accused. She took the survivor to the hospital and informed the police. The police got a medical examination conducted and registered a case under Sections of rape and the POCSO Act.
