Ludhiana, February 8
The Mayor of Ealing, UK, Tejinder Dhami, visited Ludhiana on Friday. Interacting with city residents at advocate Harpreet Sandhu’s house here, he said Indians based in the United Kingdom were doing well.
They are placed at top positions in different fields, though the political participation of Indians is a bit low in England at the moment, especially the younger generation, he added.
Dhami keeps visiting India at least once or twice a year. “India has gone ahead in infrastructure, especially in Delhi and Gurgaon and cities like Jalandhar and Ludhiana have also developed in a big way,” he added.
However, there’s a need to focus on environment and traffic problems. Chaotic traffic and environmental pollution are two major issues that the people are facing here, he said.
Councillor Dhami went to the UK in 1962 and has lived and worked in Ealing since then. — TNS
