Deputy Commissioner Pradeep Kumar Agrawal today said: "The Punjab Government, under its Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM), is committed to train youth in skill development courses so that they can become self-dependent."
Under the Sankalp programme of PSDM, the District Bureau of Employment & Enterprises (DBEE) will be organising mass awareness camps in different parts of Ludhiana from tomorrow onwards.
He said any person could attend and register for skill training programme during these camps. "Any school/college dropout or any unemployed youth can undergo these trainings. The benefits of skill training are that it is completely free of cost, provides government-approved certificates, assured job placements. After training, one can start his/her own business with the help of various loan facilities. Stipend will also be given to students under few different schemes. Special classes on soft skills, IT and personality development will be provided," he added.
The details of awareness camps to be organised under the Sankalp programme are as under: on December 7, a camp will be held at Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Khanna, on December 9 at Bhagwan Mahavir Senior Secondary School, Raikot, on December 10 at Govt. ITI Boys, Samrala, on December 11 at Govt. Girls Senior Secondary School, Jagraon, on December 12 at Government Senior Secondary School for Boys, Payal, and on December 13 at PAU Skill Development Centre, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. — TNS
