Arguments over framing of charges in the multi-crore Manesar land acquisition case continued today in the special CBI court. Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda is the prime accused in the case.
The public prosecutor for the CBI submitted arguments on an application moved on the behalf of accused ML Tayal. The public prosecutor stated that there was no document related to the case as sought by the applicant. During the last hearing, an application was moved for a document by Hooda on which the CBI filed a reply today.
Hooda, along with 33 other accused, appeared in the court, which fixed August 22 as the next date of hearing.
On February 2, 2018, the CBI had filed an 80,000-page chargesheet against 34 people, including Hooda, former UPSC?member Chhatar Singh, former principal secretaries Murari Lal Tayal and SS Dhillon and promoter of Gurugram-based real estate company ABW Builders, Atul Bansal.
The special CBI court adjourned the matter in the Associated Journals Limited (AJL) land re-allotment case in which Hooda and senior Congress leader Motilal Vora are the accused.
The court had granted bail to Hooda and Vora on January 3 this year. The CBI?had filed a chargsheet against the duo on December 1, 2018, under Sections 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 13(I)(d), read with 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
