A 29-year-old man, who was wanted in 33 criminal cases and carried a reward of Rs50,000 on his head, has landed in the police net.

Identified as Irshad, a resident of Kharkhari village of Toaru subdivision of Mewat district, the accused was wanted in a large number of cases of loot, snatching, vehicle theft and ATM break since 2017.

On a tip-off, a team of the crime branch of the Sector 31 here, led by Inspector Naveen Kumar, arrested Irshad from the Sohna area on Monday night. “Irshad had been arrested and sent to jail several times in the past years,” said Inspector Naveen Kumar.

The accused had been evading arrest since 2012 when he was released on bail.

On August 14 last year, a reward of Rs50,000 was announced on him. Three motorcycles, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, a mobile phone, a country-made revolver and two live cartridges have been recovered from his possession, the police said. Irshad was produced in a local court today, which sent him to five-day police remand.
