Abohar, February 6

Harjit Singh (30), who was allegedly beaten up after being tied to a tree by three of a family at Chak 1BD village in Sriganganagar, succumbed to “injuries” at the civil hospital in Rawla Mandi on Tuesday.

Investigation reportedly indicated that Harjit was told by the parents of a girl to stop visiting her. When he barged into their house on Monday, her parents allegedly tied him to a tree and thrashed him. As someone informed his family, his parents took him to the rural health centre after which he was allowed to go to his house. When his condition deteriorated, the parents took him to the Civil Hospital at Rawla, but Harjit succumbed to his injuries. The police said Surmukh Singh and his sons Nanak Singh and Swaran Singh, who were named in the FIR, had been arrested. — OC
