Man shot at, escapes unhurt

An employee of a liquor contractor had a narrow escape when he was shot at by two persons in Adarsh Nagar here on Thursday evening. The victim has been identified as Heera Singh. The gunshot missed the target following which Heera flung into the residence of his brother in the area in order to save himself. The assailants, too, escaped when people started gathering after hearing the gunshot.

The police have registered a case of murder bid and under the Arms Act against the unknown persons.

Heera Singh works as a sales manager with Singhal Group liquor shop, located in Prem Nagar Abadi here. He stated to the police that after closing the shop, he took the entire sale amount and went to another liquor vend in Ram Nagar Colony from where he collected Rs 25,000 and later deposited the same with the main wine shop in Islamabad.

He said that after depositing the cash, he went to the house of his cousin. Near Chindpurni Temple in Adarsh Nagar, two unidentified persons came on a bike from behind and challenged him. He said before he could understand, one of the suspects fired at him. He said he left his scooter and entered the house of his cousin to save himself. He said that due to darkness, he could not read the registration number of the bike while the accused fled away.

Lakhwinder Singh, SHO, Kot Khalsa police station, said the police had registered a case and further investigation was under progress to identify the suspects.
