Panchkula, June 19
A person was killed after a canter hit a stationary tipper near Pyarewala village on the Naraingarh-Raipur Rani road on the intervening night of June 18 and 19.
The victim has been identified as Syoram, a resident of Shehjadpur in Ambala district. He was working as a labourer on the canter. The canter driver, identified as Rakesh Kumar, also suffered injuries in the mishap.
A police team from the Raipur Rani police station reached the site and took Syoram to the community health centre where doctors declared him brought dead.
The body of the victim was handed over to the family members after conducting the post-mortem examination at the Civil Hospital in Sector 6 here.
Shiv Kumar, victim’s son, in his complaint to the police, said he was following the canter in which his father was travelling in, on a motorcycle.
He said his friend, Vishal Kumar, was also riding pillion. He said when the canter reached near a seasonal drain at Pyarewala village, it collided with a tipper parked on the road.
He said the tipper did not have any registration number and its parking lights were also not switched on.
The police have registered a case against the unknown driver of the tipper and further investigations were on.
It is pertinent to mention here that two persons were killed and one injured when their Bolero jeep collided with a stationary tipper near Raipur Rani two days ago. A large number of tippers can be seen transporting gravel and sand from the Raipur Rani area to the Punjab during late night hours.
