Amritsar, February 15

The Jhander police have nabbed a person, identified as Narinder Singh of Harad Bhure Gill village, falling under Ramdass police station, for allegedly possessing 240 intoxicating tablets and an illegal firearm. An investigation revealed that he was wanted in a case in which he shot at an NRI in Gurdaspur in January. Kuldeep Singh, investigating officer, said Narinder Singh, who stayed in England for five years, came in contact with a Amritsar girl through a social networking site around four years ago. Recently, he came to know that the girl was about to marry a Gurdaspur youth, a US-based NRI, whom he shot. On Thursday, he was arrested from Bath village. — TNS
