Additional Sessions Judge Jagdeep Kaur Virk has convicted Sunil Rai of Banda Bahadur Nagar, Famda Road, here of a six-year-old girl’s rape. He has been sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment.
He has been ordered to pay a fine of Rs 1 lakh, of which Rs 50,000 would be paid to the victim as compensation.
Additional Public Prosecutor BD Gupta said the case was registered on a statement of the girl’s mother on October 31, 2016, at the Basti Jodhewal police station.
The complainant had told the police that Sunil was living in his neighbourhood. He had taken away her daughter on the pretext of buying her some eatables. The girl returned home crying. When her parents asked her why she was crying, she narrated the incident.
