A man was died of drug overdose at the Civil Hospital during treatment on Saturday. He was admitted to the Civil Hospital this morning in a critical condition.

The police have initiated proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC after recoding the statement of deceased’s family members. The body has been handed over to them after conducting a post-mortem examination.

According to information, Davinder Singh, a resident of Dhobiana Basti, was addicted to ‘chitta’ and on Friday night, he consumed the drug in a large amount. Thereafter, his health got deteriorated and was admitted to the Civil Hospital.

After getting information, Davinder’s relatives, including sisters and in-laws, reached the hospital. They exchanged heated arguments as deceased’s sisters alleged that their brother had died due to negligence of his in-laws. But his in-laws said when they came to know about his habit of taking drugs, they got him admitted to the hospital. — TNS
