Chandigarh, February 16

Shalabh “Shalli” Kumar, the architect of famous ad campaign ‘Abki Baar Trump Sarkar’, which turned a large number of Indian American votes from Democratic to the US President Donald Trump’s Republic, was in the city to attend Punjab Engineering College (PEC) alumni meet here on Saturday.

Chicago-based businessman Kumar, an alumnus of the 1969 batch, is also the founder of the Republican Hindu Coalition (RHC), an organisation which seeks to bring together the Hindu-American community and Republican policymakers and leaders.

Taking a dig at the global media, Kumar said: “Some media outlets have complained that Donald Trump is not showing any sign of strengthening the Indian-US relations. The mainstream media judges it by Trump not making a trip to India. I say, judge Trump by his actions.”

He asked: “Which US president has been clear with its relationship with Pakistan, an arch enemy of India?”

“The Uri surgical strike by India was fine, but it needs to take a firm stance on terrorism like the US. We have essentially killed terrorists in Syria and have crippled the ISIS. Narendra Modi and Donald Trump want the same thing,” added Kumar.

To the students of PEC, he said: “Pay attention to practical electronics and not just paper designs and software emulations. You will enjoy and become a great product designer.”
