Hoshiarpur, December 4
The Secretary to the Governor, Punjab, JM Balamurugan, today exhorted farmers to make agriculture a profitable profession.
He visited stalls laid by cooperative societies at the farm produce exhibition organised on the occasion.
Addressing a meeting at the District Administraive Complex, he said farmers could make Farmers Producer Company (FPC) and adopt cooperative farming method. These companies could be helpful for small and marginal farmers.
Deputy Commissoners, Hoshiarpur and Roopnagar, along with representatives of different societies and progressive farmers, participated in the meeting.
Special Secretary, Horticulture Department, Punjab; Deputy Commissioner, Hoshiarpur, Isha Kalia; and DC Sumit Jarangal; were present.
Isha kalia appealed the farmers to prefer group farming to enhance their economic condition. She also invited companies of other states to set up their plants in the Handi belt. She assured farmers that problems regarding agriculture would be brought to the notice of the state government so that they could be solved as early as possible.
Jitendra Sharma PCCF and JPS Bindra, CGM, Nabard, were present on the occasion.
