Almost all parties except the BJP have put up candidates who have FIRs registered against them. The Indian National Lok Dal has nominated a candidate who has even been convicted once for assault.

The INLD’s Bhiwani-Mahendragarh contestant, Balwan Singh, was sentenced to 1-year rigorous imprisonment in 2016 but upon appeal, he was released on probation with a fine paid to the victim. In 2017, he was again booked for attempt to murder, molestation and rioting in Bikaner. Another INLD candidate Ram Pal Valmiki from Ambala faces a case of molestation and stalking, registered at Yamunanagar in 2017.

Suresh Koth, INLD candidate from Hisar, is facing four FIRs. One is for being declared a proclaimed offender in 2019, the other three FIRs are for road blocking: two were filed in 2015 and one in 2017.

Congress candidate from Kurukshetra Nirmal Singh is facing a case of dacoity, attempt to murder and rioting while armed with a deadly weapon. The charges have been framed against him in a case registered in 2018 in Yamunanagar.

Former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda is facing six cases of corruption, including the Manesar land scam worth Rs 1,500 crore, which are being pursued by the Central Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement Directorate. One case was registered in 2015, two in 2016, and one each in 2017, 2018 and 2019. He is contesting from Sonepat on the Congress ticket.

Congress state president Ashok Tanwar, who is contesting from Sirsa, is facing a case of criminal intimidation, being a member of unlawful assembly, disobedience to order imposed by a public servant and using assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from duty. It was registered in Devaria (UP) in 2007.

Another Congress candidate from Faridabad, Avtar Singh Bhadana, is facing a case of violation of model code of conduct, registered in 2012.

State president of the Aam Aadmi Party Navin Jaihind is facing four FIRs, registered in 2013, 2016, 2017 and 2018. Three are for political agitation and one is for taking out a procession.

Jannayak Janta Party’s Rohtak candidate Pradeep Kumar is facing three FIRs. The one registered in 2016 was for rioting with weapon, extortion and wrongful restraint while the other filed in 2017 was for rioting and unlawful assembly. The case registered in 2018 was of rioting with weapon, unlawful assembly, obstructing a public servant, attempt to murder and disobedience to order duly promulgated by a public servant.

There is no pending case against any saffron party candidate in Haryana.

Molestation charges against 2 INLD nominees

The INLD’s Bhiwani-Mahendragarh nominee, Balwan Singh, was booked for attempt to murder, molestation and rioting in Bikaner in 2017. Another INLD candidate Ram Pal Valmiki from Ambala also faces a case of molestation and stalking. 

Cong’s Nirmal Singh charged with dacoity 

Congress candidate from Kurukshetra Nirmal Singh is facing a case of dacoity, attempt to murder and rioting while armed with a deadly weapon. The charges have been framed against him in a case registered in 2018 in Yamunanagar. 

Six cases against former CM Hooda 

Former CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda is facing six cases of corruption, including the multi-crore Manesar land scam, which are being pursued by the CBI and ED. One case was registered in 2015, two in 2016, and one each in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
