Former Akali minister Bikram Singh Majithia today scoffed at the “feud” between Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and Cabinet minister Navjot Singh Sidhu.
Majithia, who was here to attend the wedding of the son of an Akali leader, said, “It is like a football team which refuses to acknowledge Lionel Messi as its captain. God save such a team where a minister differs from the Chief Minister. I have always maintained that Sidhu won’t settle himself and will unsettle everyone else.”
Majithia wondered why Sidhu had brought a showpiece shaped like a partridge (‘titar’ in Punjabi) for the CM.
“Ehda matlab eh vi ho sakda ke oh Captain nu titar ho jaan layi keh reha hove (It can mean that Sidhu wants Capt Amarinder Singh to make himself scarce),” the Akali leader said.
Majithia, the sitting SAD MLA from Majitha (Amritsar), did not comment on the questioning of Enforcement Directorate Deputy Director Niranjan Singh regarding a purported meeting with him. He neither confirmed nor denied having met Niranjan at a hotel here. He said, “It is a long discussion. We will take it up some other day.”
