Owing to a long illness, the health of Mukerian Congress MLA Rajnish Babbi (58) has been on the decline for the past few months.
Friends and supporters of Babbi today posted his pictures of cutting a cake while celebrating his birthday with them at his place, on Facebook. An extremely frail looking Babbi was wished good health by his followers. Babbi’s son Sabhya Sanchi said: “My father had suffered from some complications, including pneumonia and remained hospitalised for long. But now, he has been discharged and is at home. My mother Indu Bala and I are taking good care of him so that he recovers quickly.”
With Babbi remaining unwell for the past nearly five months, his advocate son has stepped into his father’s shoes. He is currently managing the affairs in the constituency, visiting people and helping them with their day-to-day problems.
A former Excise and Taxation Officer, Babbi is the son of former Finance Minister, former Vidhan Sabha speaker and five-time MLA Dr Kewal Krishan. He had lost elections as a Congress candidate in 2007 but won in 2012 as an Independent.
