The central government’s search for a Lokpal panel continues even as the country inches towards the next parliamentary elections.

A search committee instituted for recommending names on the ombudsman’s panel held its second meeting on Wednesday to review applications and nominations it has so far received in response to its advertisement dated February 6. It decided that applications received by the previous search committee will no longer be valid.

The committee’s next meeting is scheduled on February 25.
