The administration is encouraging persons with disabilities (PWD) to take active part in Lok Sabha elections, the polling for which is scheduled to take place on May 19.

Officials led by Ahmedgarh SDM Vikramjeet Singh Panthey, Payal SDM Swati Tiwana and Raikot SDM Dr Himanshu Gupta are leaving no stone unturned in ensuring that persons with disability from all localities, falling under their jurisdiction, would cast their votes on the scheduled day according to their convenience.

Block Level Officers have already identified such voters in their respective beats and senior officials, including SDMs Vikramjeet Singh Panthey, Swati Tiwana and Dr Himanshu Gupta have been approaching them to motivate them to cast vote positively. These special voters and members of their families were informed that the administration had made adequate arrangements to help them in reaching the polling booths. Besides arranging transportation, the administration has also arranged sufficient number of wheel chairs and ramps at each polling booth, officials at the subdivision-level offices in Ahmedgarh, Payal and Raikot confirmed.

Ahmedgarh SDM-cum-returning officer Vikramjeet Singh Panthey said almost all PWD voters have been contacted to apprise them of the Election Commission’s guidelines regarding electioneering. “Our foremost effort is to make these special voters feel that they are equally important in the democratic set up and casting their vote was significant in the constitution of government,” said Panthey.
