Lohri celebrated at courts complex

Lohri was celebrated at the courts complex in the city on Friday.

District and Sessions Judge Gurbir Singh took part in the celebrations and shared his experiences with lawyers.

District and Sessions Judge Gurbir Singh also released a book, “Simplified Law of Executions”, written by senior lawyer MP Vasudev. He also honoured 22 lawyers.

Earlier, DBA president Parupkar Singh Ghumman, secretary Mandip Sidhu, vice-president Harjot Singh Harikay, finance secretary Rakesh Sharma, joint secretary Hanish Gupta, executive members HS Bedi and Payal Soni accorded a warm welcome to judges.

Randhir Kanwal enthralled the audience with his ‘ghazals’ and songs.

Lawyers cracked jokes and recited couplets, which were appreciated by everyone present.

Celebrations at Civil Hospital

Lohri of newborn girls was celebrated at the Civil Hospital’s Mother and Child Hospital by the Aan Jal Sewa Trust on Friday. Civil Surgeon Dr Parvinder Pal Singh Sidhu was the chief guest on the occasion and Senior Medical Officer, Dr Geeta was also present.

The staff of the hospital was also present who sang traditional songs of Lohri. Gachak and peanuts were distributed among all.

The Lohri of 25 newborn girls was celebrated today and the families of the girls were given woollen clothes and Lohri delicacies to mark the occasion.

Book released
