Going a step ahead towards the fulfillment of promises made by the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to the farmers of the state, loan-waiver cheques for Rs 4.98 crore today disbursed among 802 farmers of Phillaur by Chaudhary Santokh Singh, MP, and the general secretary of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary.

Addressing farmers, Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary said: “With the disbursement of today’s cheques of loan waiver, so far total loan waiver worth Rs 25.62 for 4,238 farmers completed in the Phillaur assembly segment only. In the entire Jalandhar district, total agriculture loans worth Rs 127 crore has already been disbursed so far” he added.

While hailing the announcement of National president of the Congress, Rahul Gandhi for ‘minimum income guarantee’ for every poor person in the country, MP Chaudhary said whenever the Congress government took over in Centre, revolutionary decisions – be it Right to Food, Right to Education, Right to Information or farmers’ friendly Land Acquisition Bills, were taken.

“On the other hand, the BJP government merely extends the lip-service to the poor people of the country,” he added.

“Time is ripe that people should support the Congress and topple the dictatorial Modi Sarkar in the upcoming elections,” said the MP.

Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary also announced a grant of Rs 1.23 crore for constructing sheds over the Grain Market in Phillaur, Rs 40.40 lakh Muthada Khurd Mandi and Rs 22.44 lakh Apra Mandi in Phillaur.

“These grain markets were built 10 years ago during the Congress regime in 2007 and now the sheds are also being built by the Congress, as SAD-BJP government did not spend even a single penny on it,” added Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary.

Taking a dig on the remarks of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the recent rally held at Gurdaspur that the Congress did not waive even a single penny of farmers and whatever was being waived-off was of only Congress workers.

SDM Varinder Pal Bajwa; Jagjit Singh AR Co-operative Dept; Amrik Singh, bank manager; Amrik Chahal DSP; Makhan Khera, Narinder Goyal president Nagar Council Phillaur were present.
