Loan-waiver certificates distributed

The state government, led by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, has fulfilled the promises made to people by the Congress before the Assembly elections. Prior to the poll, the Congress had promised farmers of the state that after the Congress government comes to power, the loans of farmers will be waived off. Coming to power, the state government has fulfilled its commitments and waived off loans of up to Rs 2,00,000.

Minister of Industry and Commerce Sunder Sham Arora said this while addressing a function to distribute loan-waiver certificates among beneficiary farmers of Hoshiarpur. In the function, loan-waiver certificates amounting to Rs 57.75 lakh were distributed among 56 farmers of the Hoshiarpur Assembly segment. SDM Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu was among those present.

Addressing the farmers, Arora said loan of Rs 139.96 crore of 14,444 farmers of Hoshiarpur had been waived off in the third phase.

He said the government had given the first-loan relief of Rs 1,637.42 crore to 3,17,862 farmers, Rs 1,815.31 crore to 1,00,587 farmers in the second phase. The minister said: “The government is only focused on the development of the state. Now, we are focusing on providing employment to jobless youth and improving the condition of farmers.”

He said the state government wants to see the farmers happy as they were the food providers of the nation.
