Litterateurs pay tributes to Vajpayee

CHANDIGARH: Eminent Urdu poets and litterateurs presented their choicest ornate poetry at a symposium and Mushiara organised by the Haryana Urdu Akademi ( HUA) to pay tributes to the poet-politician and former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, during his birth anniversary celebrations at Haryana Samvaad Complex here today.

Eminent Urdu poets and litterateurs presented their choicest ornate poetry at a symposium and Mushiara organised by the Haryana Urdu Akademi ( HUA) to pay tributes to the poet-politician and former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee, during his birth anniversary celebrations at Haryana Samvaad Complex here today.

Akademi vice-chairperman and litterateur, Dr Chander Trikha, welcomed chief guest Rajesh Khullar, Principal Secretary to the Haryana Chief Minister and Sameer Pal Srow, DG Information, Public Relations and Languages Department, who presided over the programme.

Dr Trikha expressed his gratitude for enhancing the Akademi annual awards prize money being conferred by the Haryana Government to honour litterateurs to more than double of the existing amount.

On the occasion, Rajesh Khullar released a calendar of Akademi and a book ‘Punjab mein faarsi ghazal’ authored by Dr Mohd Ayub Khan.

Author and chairman, Chandigarh Sahitya Akademi, also vice-president, National Sahitya Akademi, Madhav Kaushik, introduced poet Sheen Kaaf Nizam for the Ru-ba-ru and keynote address amidst applause.

Speaking on the occaison Nizam observed, “Language and literature of a region reflect the life-living pattern and socio-culture life masses from time to time.”

He described the role of a writer in the development of human civilization. Nizam enthralled the audience with couplets like ‘Khamosh tum bhi khamosh ham bhi thhe, phir itni der kaun tha jo baatein karta rha’ and ‘Tu akela hai bandd kamra hai, ab toh chehra utaar kerr rakh de.’

Besides, Janab Sheen Kaaf Nizam poets, Madhav Kaushik, Dr Kumar Panipati, Dr KK Rishi, Mahendra Pratap Chand and Sultan Anjum Shams Tabrezi read their poetry.

Chief guest RK Khullar, who is also a writer and novelist, complimented poets for their poetic recitations weaved with emotions, aspirations, joys and sorrows of common man.
