Chandigarh, December 9

The Left parties have welcomed the decision of lifting of Bargari dharna on Sunday.

In a joint press release, state secretaries of the Communist Party of India (CPI) and Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) said the state had already paid a heavy price for communal tension in the past.

State secretary of the CPI Bant Brar said it had become necessary for maintaining peace in the state. He said a few terrorist organisations were continuously trying to disturb the hard-earned peace of the state. He said the government must pay attention to real problems like agrarian suicides, unemployment and corruption. — TNS
