Learning levels up in govt schools: Survey

There has been a considerable improvement in the learning levels at government schools, with language and mathematics skills of Class V students being adjudged number one in the country.

These are the findings of the Annual Status of Education Report (Rural)-2018, Himachal Pradesh, which was released by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur here yesterday. The learning levels of a total of 9,811 students in the 6-14 age-group in 358 villages in 12 districts of the state were assessed during the survey.

Another significant highlight of the report is greater improvement in the learning levels of government schoolchildren as compared to those enrolled in private schools. As per the survey, 99.7 per cent schools have toilets and there has been a considerable improvement in the toilet facility for girls. As per the survey, 99.6 per cent children in the 6-14 age-group are enrolled in schools. This was the 13th non-government report on the learning levels and facilities in schools across the country.
