Srinagar, February 11

The High Court Bar Association on Monday took action against two lawyers who were arrested for forging a bail order. While it suspended the basic membership of one lawyer, it barred the second one from using its facilities.

A decision to this effect was taken during an executive meeting of the Bar chaired by its president Mian Qayoom. The meeting took strong note of the events which led to the arrest of two lawyers, namely Musavir Ahmad Mir and Aamir Masoodi. They have been accused of having fabricated a bail order to facilitate the release of certain persons.

The police said the accused lawyers had forged the bail order for the clients whose bail application was rejected by the trial and appellant court in Budgam.

The forged bail order carried a fake stamp and signature to give impression that it was issued by the High Court. Their clients were released by the police on the production of the fake order.
