Lawyer booked for objectionable post

HOSHIARPUR: Pritpaljit Singh Sangha, an advocate of Hoshiarpur, has been booked by the Hoshiarpur police under Sections 295-A, 153-A, and 505 (2) of the IPC for posting objectionable message on the WhatsApp group ‘DBA Hoshiarpur’.

Pritpaljit Singh Sangha, an advocate of Hoshiarpur, has been booked by the Hoshiarpur police under Sections 295-A, 153-A, and 505 (2) of the IPC for posting objectionable message on the WhatsApp group ‘DBA Hoshiarpur’.

In the reported message, Preetpaljit Singh Sangha has made objectiobale comments on Hindu deities. On June 27, the message was shared in the DBA Hoshiarpur group. The wording used in the post were hurting the sentiments of Hindus.

As soon as it became viral , Ashok Sarin, a Jalandhar-based advocate , the Media Incharge of Punjab Youth BJP came to know about the message, he sent a complaint in this regard to SSP J Elanchezhian, and DGP Punjab. Getting the directions from police high officials, the police, after registering a case against the accused, started investigating the matter.

On Monday, various Hindu organisations, including Akhil Bharatiya Ram Rajya Parishad handed over a memorandum to the SSP regarding the post shared by the lawyer Pritpaljit Singh on the WhatsApp group and a resident of Bullowal, who had shared a similar post of the Facebook.

Hindu organisations have demanded an immediate arrest of both the accused and register an FIR against them. Akhil Bharatiya Ram Rajya Parishad, Punjab’s state president advocate Gaurav Garg said: “Using such a derogatory language against Gods and deities will not be tolerated at any cost.”

A letter related to this has been sent to the DGP, Punjab, and a complaint seeking for the cancellation of the license of the said lawyer has been filed with Bar Council, Chandigarh.
