Even as land registries are being done in normal course in tehsils of Jalandhar, applicants are caught in a unique problem as mutations are not getting executed in some areas owing to a technical issue.
The applicants, who have bought new properties and got them registered in their names, are not able to get the change entered in the land records as the software has reportedly developed some malfunctioning.
Patwaris said some villages where new colonies were being carved out were the ones where the problem was being encountered. They said since the division of khewat numbers was rising, the system was not accepting the change.
The areas where the problem is being faced include parts of both tehsil 1 and 2. These include Fazilpur, Lidran, Chak Jindan, Dhaliwal, Salempur Musalmana, Kangniwal, Dhada, Subhana, Khambra and Chohakan villages. There are reportedly as many as 200 land registries for which mutations have gone pending.
DC Varinder Kumar Sharma said: “So far, no one has approached me with any problem. If someone comes to me, I will definitely try to get it resolved.”
