Boise (USA), August 23

Anirban Lahiri came closer to ensuring a PGA Tour card after carding a 3-under 68 to lie at tied-19th on the opening day of Albertsons Boise Open here. Lahiri was four shots behind the leaders.

Lahiri came into the PGA Tour through the Korn Ferry Finals route in 2015, and managed to retain his card each year. But this year, he finished 178th in the FedExCup standings and went back to the Korn Ferry Finals. His tied-7th finish in the first event, the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Open, puts him in a strong position as he currently stands tied-6th in the separate Money list for the finals, from where the Top-25 will get a card.

Shubhankar Sharma, who missed the cut in the first event, shot a 4-over 75 and was 123rd. He will need to finish in the Top-3 to have a chance of earning a card.

Good start by Aditi, lies 30th

Aurora (Canada): Aditi Ashok got off to a steady start with a 2-under 70 following three birdies on the back-nine in the first round of the CP Women’s Open here. Aditi made a bogey on the ninth and birdied the 10th, 11th and 18th to be tied-30th. Annie Park shot a 7-under 65 to take a one-stroke lead.

Diksha begins with 72

Prague: Diksha Dagar shot an even-par 72 despite a closing bogey in the first round of the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open here today. Diksha had four birdies against four bogeys. Amateur Patricie Mackova held the joint lead with Agathe Sauzon and Johanna Gustavsson as all three shot 6-under 66s.

Gangjee close to making cut

Hokkaido (Japan): Rahjil Gangjee fought back with three birdies in a row and was 1-under through 15 holes when inclement weather ended play on the second day of Shigeo Nagashima Invitational Segasammy Cup. He was tied-38th at a total of 1-under. — PTI
