The Shiromani Akali Dal Badal on Monday blamed the AAP government in Delhi over the issue of a missing file pertaning to the murder of 63 Sikhs during the 1984 riots.

The matter came to light when the Centre’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) demanded the file from the Delhi government. The SIT was constituted to investigate the riot cases.

Delhi SAD chief Manjit Singh GK said the SIT sought the records of many cases in connection with the 1984 riots cases. “But the department concerned of the Delhi government has so far delayed giving the records of killing of 63 Sikhs in Kalyanpuri in East Delhi,” GK said, adding the chairman of the SIT, Anurag had written a secret letter to the director of law department, Delhi, on March 29,  2017 in connection with the case. The letter was also forwarded to Delhi Police chief Amulya Patnaik and secretary to Union Home Ministry Praveen Kumar Shrivastav. But, GK said, so far no reply was given to the  chairman by the Delhi government.

He added that in this case charge sheet was filed against 17 accused but during the hearing the names of only five were mentioned resulting in release of all the accused. Thereafter no appeal was filed in the session court by the Delhi government, GK claimed.

He said when the chairman of the SIT asked record of the case again, Japan Babu, an official of the law department, informed that FIR of the case is missing.
